The Garnet Valley High School music department has exciting news to share as student musicians earned top honors at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association festivals this year.

Each year, the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) hosts honors festivals that recognize the most talented student musicians across the state. Hundreds of students from Delaware, Chester, and Philadelphia counties audition for the chance to participate, making the selection a significant achievement.

This past weekend, eleven Garnet Valley High School students were selected to perform in the PMEA District 12 Band, held at Strath Haven High School. Garnet Valley High School was among the schools with the highest number of students represented, highlighting the strength and dedication of the GVHS band program.

During the festival, students had the opportunity to re-audition for advancement to the PMEA Region VI Band, and GVHS made history. A school-record nine students advanced to the regional level, the highest number of qualifiers from any school across Delaware, Chester, or Philadelphia counties.
