Do you have a passion for the arts? Have you ever wanted a chance to showcase your art to qualified artists and judges with the chance to earn scholarships? Well, the Scholastic Art and Writing Competition is for you. The Scholastic Art competition is a prestigious competition looking to find and recognize talented young artists throughout the U.S., its territories, and Canada.

Mrs. Buchanan, one of our art teachers, has agreed to hold information sessions on what to do to prepare and take part in this competition. Her Learn 2 will be renamed “Scholastic Art Competition Meeting” in ALMA on October 9th, October 22nd, Nov 5th, and Nov 19th to explain everything you might need to know about this competition. To clarify, these meetings will only be on the art aspect of the rewards, so if you are interested in the writing aspect, you should ask Mrs. Arters (Room A108) or your own English teacher. The questions that will be answered include:

-What are the Scholastic Art Awards?

-Who is eligible to enter?

-What should students do to enter?

-When should students enter?

-What are Gold Keys and Silver Keys?

On top of this, Mrs. Buchanan and I will also tell you how to prepare and photograph the artwork, label it on the website, and fill out other entry details. She will share experiences she had while helping students and various experiences one might have while creating and submitting work. The deadline of the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards is most likely to be on Dec. 1, so you should start planning and creating your art now. Remember, it's up to you and your ideas to bring these pieces to fruition, so getting started as soon as possible will assure more time and success in your creative process. Remember, the most important thing is that you have fun!
