Everyone, the PSAT is almost here!

On Wednesday, October 8, 2025, all 10th and 11th graders are registered to take the PSAT at GVHS. Only those grades will come to school for testing, while 9th and 12th graders will do asynchronous work from home.

The PSAT is a nationally recognized test and a helpful practice for the SAT. For 11th graders, it’s important because it can help with college applications and scholarship opportunities. For 10th graders, it’s a chance to see where you stand and what you might need to work on before taking the SAT in the future.

Testing this year will be using the Bluebook application on our Macbooks. The app has some useful tools like a reference sheet and a built-in Desmos calculator, which can help you throughout the test. Make sure to open the app ahead of time and check that it’s installed, updated, and working properly. If it’s not working or you have any issues, see Mr. Huber in the library. If you cannot reach him, make sure to book an appointment to get it fixed as soon as possible, because if the app isn’t working, you will not be able to take the PSAT.

The PSAT does not define your whole life. If you don’t get a high score, don’t dwell on it. The test provides very useful information about your strengths and areas to improve on for the actual SAT, which can affect your future college opportunities. Make sure to try your absolute best.

Be sure to get a good night’s rest before the test and eat a healthy breakfast in the morning. Being rested and fueled can make or break your performance on test day.
