In December, members of the National Honor Society participated in one of the biggest service events of the year. All members were required to take part in at least one official December NHS service activity, which counted toward the annual 10-hour service requirement due by May 8.
The main event was the Staff Appreciation Gift Wrap held on December 10 in the staff lounge. During this event, NHS members volunteered their time to wrap holiday presents for staff members’ children. Additional members supported the event by donating treats or Dunkin’ gift cards. Students who participated during the school day obtained teacher permission prior to volunteering.
Members self-recorded their service hours through pictures and submitted the photos of their contributions through the Schoology assignment. This event provided NHS members with an opportunity to give back to school staff in a meaningful and personal way while fulfilling their service requirement.
