A commitment to innovation, teamwork, and community improvement pushed our GV STEM Club members to reach new heights. Just last month, Vyom Siriyapu, Evan Patel, Ekansh Agrawal, Rohan Kothamasu, and Ethan Kang were voted for the “Innovative Genius” award at the final round of the 2024/2025 PA Governor’s STEM Competition at Penn State University.
This annual competition challenges student teams from across the state to design and prototype an original invention that addresses a real-world problem in their community. After months of planning and problem-solving, the Garnet Valley team emerged as one of the top 20 finalists, selected from over 100 participating schools statewide, to compete in the finals.
The STEM Club team, putting their heads together, brainstormed and created a mechanical trash collector designed for standing bodies of water. Though severe weather and power outages postponed parts of the competition, they kept up their school pride and presented their unique project. During the keynote address, Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Dr. Carrie Rowe personally recognized the team’s innovation!
The work of these five GV Jags was from several months of hard work. The dedication and achievement of the GV STEM Club not only marks a new milestone, but builds up momentum for next year. Congratulations!
