The Phillies’ season ended on October 9 after a 2–1 loss to the Dodgers in Game 4 of the playoffs. The game went into extra innings, and it didn’t end the way Philly fans wanted.
Aaron Nola pitched really well and kept the Dodgers from scoring for most of the game. The problem was the Phillies’ offense. They had chances to score but couldn’t get it done. Then, in the 11th inning, a throwing error by Orion Kerkering let the Dodgers score the winning run. Just like that, the Phillies were out of the playoffs.
Manager Rob Thomson said it was a tough way to lose but praised the team for working hard all season. Even with the loss, players like Bryce Harper, Trea Turner, and Zack Wheeler gave fans some exciting moments this year.
It’s disappointing, but that’s baseball. One mistake can change the game, even after a solid season. Fans are already hoping the team comes back stronger next year.
